5th Annual China Airport Summit

Newly appointed positions to Carico Cowin Global LLC

Carico Cowin is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Lori Graves to the position of Vice President. Ms. Graves joined the Carico Systems team in 2000 and has 10 years of experience in the material handling industry. Ms. Graves feels that the merger between Carico Systems and Cowin Global has made both companies more diverse and opens many opportunities for future growth and expansion. Ms. Graves is responsible for the total Fort Wayne, Indiana operations.

Leading the Marketing effort for the new Carico Cowin Global group will be Travis Ferguson in the newly created position of Vice President/Marketing. Travis brings 20 plus years experience of marketing expertise in capital equipment, material handling and cart distribution systems in the Americas. Travis recently held North America Sales Management positions for Cannon Equipment cart distribution products as well as Director of Commercial Print Technologies.

Ms. Barbara Park joined the team on October 1, 2009 as Field Marketing Manager. Barbara has 15 plus years experience specializing in the nursery, dairy and distribution center markets. She held key sales positions with Cannon Equipment for 14 years and more recently with Schur Packaging Systems.

CARICO SYSTEMS, an Indiana based material handling wire roll cart and container company and COWIN GLOBAL, a privately owned, western founded and China based company specializing in shopping, airport, postal, retail, dairy carts and material handling equipment for the automotive industry have combined expertise and resources to establish an exciting new venture, Carico Cowin Global LLC. The new company will increase their manufacturing capabilities and allow them to expand their product lines while becoming more cost effective. This partnership will provide competitive, quality products to their customers.

Carico Systems, founded in 1983, provides wire roll carts and containers for material handling to a variety of industries including; warehouse/ distribution, retail, pharmaceutical and manufacturing. They are well known in the industry for their customer service and quality products for customers such as Adidas, Lands’ End, Keihin IPT Mfg., IBM, Mattel Toys, C&H Distributors, Target, Ryobi Die Casting, Goodwill Industries, and Harley Davidson. Cowin Global was founded in 2002 by a team of Swedish entrepreneurs who wanted to compete in the global manufacturing world and be able to reduce manufacturing costs without compromising quality. Cowin opened a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in 2006 in China to produce their products. This facility is designed for optimized production, efficiency, safety, and respect of the environment. This 400,000 square foot facility is western managed, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS18001 certified. It includes prototyping, manufacturing, engineering, R&D and a highly automated surface treatment facility. After many months of preparation and market analysis COWIN GLOBAL is proud to open up a German office to service the German speaking markets in Europe.

Starting July 1st, 2009 our office and warehouse facility close to Düsseldorf will be open enabling us to deliver our top quality products, services and special solutions to customers with logistics equipment needs.

New Office in China

The year of the Ox starts in a great way in our Industrial Park in Qingdao, China. Our brand new 2,500 m2 office and showroom has opened and 75 colleagues have moved into a new open, functional and modern working environment. Special attention has been given to the details with open working spaces as well as large meeting areas, modern technologies and infrastructure and geothermal heating.

What has now become the traditional COWIN GLOBAL Chinese New Year party was celebrated with all our chinese employees on the 21st of January 2009 (or 27th of December 4706 in Chinese Lunar calendar) in Pingdu.

All our colleagues had gathered for an afternoon of 2008 reviews and preparations and workshops for 2009. The day ended in a fantastic gala dinner with 15 amazing dancing, singing and theatrical performances by our colleagues. Such a concentrate of high spirit and talent was the perfect way to welcome a year of the Ox full of opportunities and challenges.

Mr Nat Diclaudio appointed global Sales Director for passenger handling products and services

COWIN GLOBAL is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Nat Diclaudio to the position of Global Sales Director Airport Passenger Handling Equipment and Services.

Mr Diclaudio joins the COWIN GLOBAL team bringing with him over 30 years experience in the Retail/logistics Manufacturing sector, specialising in Airport equipment and terminal services over the past 20 years. He previously worked for Clares MHE Limited a UK manufacturing company working his way through the company, through production and manufacturing departments, customer services, finally direct sales. He is therefore able to draw on his vast knowledge and experience to offer our clients tailor made solutions from product conception through to delivery and after sales service.

Mr Diclaudio has a long working experience with the world’s largest airport groups, and will be able to draw on his in-depth knowledge in his new position. Coupled with COWIN GLOBAL`s vision and ability to offer the global market a range of quality products and services in today’s challenging commercial and operational environments.

Mrs Karin Lindström appointed new CEO of COWIN GLOBAL

We are very proud to announce the appointment of Mrs Karin Lindström as CEO of COWIN  GLOBAL Ltd. from the 1st of June 2008.

Mrs Lindström has worked for the Swedish steel Giant Sandvik for more than thirty years. Her impressive career lead her from R&D departments in Sweden to production and site manager positions, most recently in Beijing. Mrs Lindström is a reference in terms of loyalty and dedication to clear, measurable and achieved growth targets. Her ability to progress internally will be a guide for all of us at Cowin Global.

“I have long experience from business development and production. At Cowin Global I will assume responsibility for the company as a whole. I will have the opportunity to draw on all of my experience in my new position. Despite more effective production, Western companies many times have difficulties in staying profitable. They have to go east in order to stay competitive. Eastern Europe is already becoming too expensive. You have to look to China and India for more cost effective production.”

COWIN LOGISTICS EQUIPMENT reaches the 500 employees milestone

By the end of May 2008, COWIN LOGISTICS EQUIPMENT had reached a significant milestone by counting a total number of 508 employees. With 310 employees at the beginning of 2008, COWIN LOGISTICS EQUIPMENT continues its ambitious development plan.

We are especially pleased to welcome Mr Du ChongGang as our 500th colleague. Mr Du joined on the 29th of May as Senior Design Engineer after a 15 years career in machinery and logistics equipment design and production. Mr Du, who had been planning his application with us for more than a year, has been carefully following the trends in the Chinese logistics equipment industry and building up his skills, knowledge and quality awareness. “I am sure I can provide COWIN LOGISTICS EQUIPMENT with very strong design and processing concepts that I hope will greatly contribute to our cost and time efficiency. I am looking forward to implementing and sharing strong improvements results for and with COWIN LOGISTICS EQUIPMENT.”

Mr James Shen appointed Human Resource Manager

Mr Shen brings an exciting strategic HR competence to COWIN GLOBAL with his diversified and outstanding background. COWIN SURFACE TREATMENT takes off!

Following COWIN SURFACE TREATMENT’s opening late last year a number of substantial developments have been made and some important milestone have been reached:


The Waste Water Treatment line efficiently meets the highly set standards for water recycling and discharging as the Qingdao Government’s Environmental Protection Bureau announces very satisfactory results for the 3 months trial of the water discharge control equipment. This pH and heavy metal ions measurement equipment is directly linked through wireless online connection to the Qingdao Government’s Environmental Protection Bureau that can monitor and control COWIN SURFACE TREATMENT's discharged water quality in real-time.


A new pre-treatment line has been added in connection to the zinc plating line. This pre-treatment consists of large acid, corrostrip and degreasing bathes that enable tremendous increases of speed and efficiency in the following zinc treatment. Moreover, this pre-treatment line substantially improves the quality control of the whole process by guaranteeing higher and more homogenous quality levels of the parts being zinc plated.

COWIN SURFACE TREATMENT started this week the construction of the second Acid Zinc plating line. This additional line is designed to treat larger volumes of products at a quicker pace, thereby increasing COWIN’s overall surface treatment abilities both in terms of efficiency and spectrum. This second line will be operational in July 2008.

COWIN GLOBAL accredited by the Technical Research Institute of Sweden

COWIN GLOBAL is proud to have obtained an accreditation by SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden (www.sp.se) for its qualitative and secure manufacturing of airbag containers for the car industry. COWIN GLOBAL is thereby one of the very few manufacturers in the world accredited by SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden on behalf of major car manufacturers in the Nordics, Benelux and Southern Europe to produce such equipments.

Chinese New Year Party

All COWIN GLOBAL’s Chinese employees gathered on the 1^st of February in Pingdu to celebrate the Chinese New Year and to summarise achievements in 2007. This End of Year Party was a huge success. With attendance well over 300, we were entertained by our colleagues with performances in the realms of singing, dancing, stand up comedy and kung fu. The party also allowed us the opportunity to award some of our most talented and successful individuals and teams for the year of 2007. Our two most valued managers for the year were Ms Alice Zhang of the Accounting Department and Mr Aaron Xue of the Human Resources Department. Best Management Teams were the Research & Development Team led by Mr Randy Wu and the Production Team led by Mr Gary Pan. Congratulations to these teams and individuals for their hard work and success.

During the party we also heard a powerful speech from our Plant Manager, Mr River Cui. During his speech, Mr Cui made important notice of the success we have had in the past year and the focus for the coming year. One of the most important focuses for 2008 is to build a corporate culture. Part of that culture is to be our emphasis on quality. During his speech, Mr said “Quality is Life” which our chairman Mr Jesper Jos Olsson found to fit our culture perfectly. We will now adopt this slogan as our own:

Operational Electroplating

After a couple of months of trial runs and fine testing with our partners and suppliers, Cowin Surface Treatment successfully launched full scale mass production of the first acid zinc electroplating line in early January 2008. Although the maximum capacity and efficiency is planned to be reached in April this year, this first line delivers remarkable quality and results. Random quality testing on the appearance and the corrosion resistance of products shows that Cowin Surface Treatment easily meets and surpasses our client’s highest requirements. Cowin Surface Treatment is now confident and eager to develop its business and to expand production capacity with a new treatment line to be installed in May 2008.

ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications

COWIN GLOBAL is proud to announce that COWIN GLOBAL Industrial Park’s facilities in Pingdu have successfully passed the final audits for ISO certifications in mid December 2007. The international auditing firm SGS (the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company) sent auditors from across China to our facilities to perform a series of audits in the period Oct-Dec 2007. Our high ambitions have been rewarded as SGS approved and certified our operational systems and facilities without remarks. COWIN GLOBAL facilities in Pingdu hold the following certificates:

ISO 9001:2001    /    ISO 14001:2004    /    ISO 18001:1999

All our teams are already looking forward to the following up audit of the summer 2008 for certifying the latest additions to our systems.

China Production Partner has changed name to Cowin Global

China Production Partner and affiliated subsidiaries have, as of the 15th of November 2007, assumed a new name and corporate image; Cowin Global.

This new name will more closely reflect our worldwide industrial ambitions and emphasise our high quality and service commitments together with our partners.

Cowin Global hereby introduces a modified corporate image which enhances our desire of reaching the highest industrial business standards while at the same time maintaining superior quality, respect of the environment and of our employees.

Cowin Global’s business units are now clearly identified as Cowin Logistics Equipment, Cowin Surface Treatment and Cowin Services.

China Production Partner’s companies have changed names but all present contact details will continue to be in operation.

Third factory construction started

Cowin Global is proud to announce that the construction of the third factory on Cowin Global’s Industrial Park land has started.

The first spades were put in earth on September the 18th, 2007, during a restricted ceremony with representatives of the local government and of the company.

In doing so, Cowin Global sets its highly ambitious development plan ahead of schedule. Less than two years after the first spades for the first factory and within one year from production start, Cowin Global prepares to increase its manufacturing output substantially with this new workshop. The new building, a new workshop of 12,500 m2 is expected to be operational in April 2008, producing metal components and parts for various global industrial clients, among them Cowin Global’s own neighbouring logistic equipment factory.

Cowin Global thereby also speeds up its broad recruitment and training plans in order to meet the new workshop demand for some three hundred new employees by May 2008.

Cowin Global at the 2007 POST-EXPO fair in Barcelona

Cowin Global showcased its products and know-how to the Postal and Logistics world at the 2007 POST-EXPO fair on October 2-4 in Barcelona, Spain. Read more about POST-EXPO at www.postexpo.com. Cowin Global’s products and materials attracted many visitors and made this exhibition a success when launching tens of new products projects together with major Postal Offices worldwide.

Cowin Global acquires Grythyttan Logistk AB

Grythyttan Logistik AB ceased operations in August 2007. The business has since then been acquired by Cowin Global Ltd.

Grythyttan Logistik AB, a century old Swedish blacksmith company, has been designing, producing and marketing environmental logistics equipments since 1957. It has been developing unique cage and roll-cage solutions at the foremost of the automotive, dairy and environmental industries’ needs since then. All Grythyttan Logistik AB’s designs, IP and products are now the property of Cowin Global.

Cowin Global will continue to supply Grythyttan Logistik AB’s clients from its own manufacturing facilities and will maintain assembly and repair operations from Grythyttan. Mr Kent Boström from Grythyttan Logistik AB will join Cowin Global’s Swedish office as technical coordinator.

Mr Chris Pearson, Managing Director Western Europe

We are proud to announce the appointment of Mr Christopher Pearson as Managing Director for Cowin Global UK Ltd. Mr Pearson’s outstanding seventeen years records within the logistics and handling industry in the United Kingdom, among others within Clares Retail Equipment, enables COWIN GLOBAL to achieve an extremely exciting development within the western European market.
